Well, "Typ-1e" and "Typ-1h" do not really roll off the tongue.
Will these vehicles get a real model name before release? Named after a flightless bird "Dodo" does not really sound so great. An "Aptera Kiwi" might be better, but ... what would be really good? Aptera Adventure for the 1h and Aptera ??? for the 1e? Maybe somebody has good suggestions, or knows the "real" names?

My friend says it looks like a Frog from the front, and
frogs are green and they come close to wingless flight. He even suggests that it should be green, not white. Frogger, Frogg-e, and variations? TreeFrog or BullFrog maybe, but Toad ... probably not. Remember the game "Frogger" where the frog tries to cross busy freeway lanes ... maybe applicable? I will go read the thread on what people were going to name their own vehicles.

How about Shuttlepod?
Dolphin? Quicksilver? Has Dymaxion expired? This would make a good contest... Last edited by IanO : 04-06-2008 at 12:40 AM. |

I want mine to be called the "Aptera Typ-1e" :P If they write "Aptera Local" anywhere on the car, I'm going to try and remove it. What a horrible name. "Aptera Typ-1e" sounds like a sports car. "Aptera Local" sounds like an NEV.

If you listen to the Aptera FAQ, the word Aptera is Greek for "wingless flight." But dictionary.com and wikipedia both have Aptera as just "without wings" or "wingless." As near as I can tell, "wingless flight" would be Aptera Pthisis.
Hmmm… doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Still, food for thought ![]() |

Perhaps a play on words - wingless flight is pretty similar to flightless wings, right? Call it the Penguin! Actually I think the OP is right, I want to drive my very own Aptera Dodo.Last edited by bobjohnson : 04-06-2008 at 07:18 PM. |

I kinda like the Dolphin, but if it was green the tadpole/frog/ribbit would be kind of whimsical.

How about "Delphís"? Greek for dolphin.
"Delphís-e" and "Delphís-h"
