To
1. better streamline the side of the Aptera, 2. make the body easier to mode and make, 3. be at one end of the car that could be parked "closer" to power, 4. be reached more easily from either side, 5. better shield the charging connection from rain, the charging input socket for the car could be under the rear license plate, which could hinge up at the top to access the charging socket. It appears that the space is there, and the slightly longer wire run to the charging electronics should not be a problem. If the Aptera is interlocked so that it will not drive the motor while plugged in (but various electrical features could still be working), then driving away with the extension cord still plugged in would be "impossible". If only the presence or lack of AC is detected, the extension cord could be unplugged at the charging "station" and there would be no AC, so the vehicle could be moved. So, better to detect that something is actually plugged into the socket. Other ideas?

with a little fuel door open icon thrown in for good measure
if something is in the proposed liscensplate slot don't let the car move, if its just open sound a chime and show the icon like a gas car usually does when the low fuel light comes on |
