A while back a video was released with MM at the microphone where he stated:
at 1:58 0.2kWh/mi (200Wh/mile) at 2:06 2e reservation holders = 1,300 at 2:19 100miles/charge There have been quite a few cancellations reported here over the summer, so I'm thinking close to or just under 1,000 left on the reservation list. ![]() |

By Dec I would expect that number to be under 200.

Do you mean for 2e, or 2e and 2h?
I suspect that there are still over 2000 for both 2e and 2h, but for 2e alone, I'd say under 1000. Remember, that the combined total was over 4000 at one point. |

Good point, Cyberbill. I was thinking overall when I posted the poll. I also wonder how many have simply forgotten they even have a reservation and have moved on to other things. The number of people hanging on to a 2H reservation doesn't make a lot of sense. No one is even working on that vehicle. At this point that thing is vaporware. The 2E at least has some prototypes. The track record says the 2H will be 2 to 3 years after they begin 2E production... Anyone willing to wait until 2015 for a hybrid version?

I still have a reservation, but it's not for a lack of trying. I contacted them months ago to cancel and they haven't gotten back to me.

Sure I'm willing to wait. It gives me more time to save up and less I will have to borrow. I initially made my 2H reservation 7/09 knowing I wouldn't be receiving shipment for at least a few years. I'd rather wait for Aptera to get it right. I don't want a sub par vehicle. I hope to be much closer to the front of the line by the time 2H is produced. If it isn't then I'll apply my $500. to the the next best choice which I won't know until then. magnru #2783 'TYPE 2H' |

I think whatever the number is, it is dwindling fast... So sad.
Here's a new question. If they had won the X-prize would it have made a difference?

of course it would of made a difference...just ask the DOE for goodness sake. they failed big time in the "mission accomplished" BS of the xprize.

Those of us who've been following Aptera, and reading and contributing to this forum almost religiously, saw the writing on the wall shortly after "team B" took over. Karen Rei (damn but I miss her) knew the score and was unafraid to make it obvious to anyone open to learning. Despite our hopes and enthusiasm, it has ALL been downhill since that time. As recently as Spring 2010, Aptera's fate was hanging on the Xprize. Call it their "moonshot", or at least a chance for legitimacy from a reasonable skeptics point of view, Aptera itself placed an ENORMOUS emphasis on the Xprize and their "ability" to dominate it. They went into the competition with a (comparatively) massive amount of supporting infrastructure, eschewing the communal garage for a "private" set up to protect their supposedly "superior" technology. They were SHAMED by teams with a fraction of their budget. I may have used all caps on that word, but it can not be emphasized enough. Despite the budget and attitude, Aptera thoroughly embarrassed itself time after time in almost every possible arena of the competition. And perhaps the ugliest and most damaging reality is that they neither experienced nor learned ANYTHING positive from the actual "spirit" of the Xprize. They didn't interact with or help other teams, and they didn't interact or communicate with fans, let alone "reservation" holders or savvy VC's. The Xprize was "Aptera's Last Stand" by their own hype, and NO one was impressed or excited. And to use and abuse "buzz words", Aptera would be one of the "epic fails" of 2010 if only it was actually relevant. If Aptera HAD dominated the competition with a "detroit certified" and "production intent" vehicle, we wouldn't need to ask such questions, would we? The Xprize proved to be the nail in the "Wilbur Debacle" coffin. Aptera is unsustainable under Paul Wilbur by any reasonable measure, and he has seriously marginalized the legitimacy of "three-wheelers" and "ultra lights" in the process. Aptera has been a corpse post Xprize and I'd LOVE to hear from someone with a shred of evidence to argue otherwise. It might just entertain us for a day or two...
