I presume that some people on the H list have withdrawn their names.

I may have a smaller number.

But who knows.

I would prefer an ecomobile before an Aptera. The price of the Ecomobile is just too high. So, the volt may be my next car. Oh well.

I was told at the Mar 27 publicity event that when they are ready to start giving test drives, that all dropouts will be accounted for and numbers re-sequenced at that time. I assume there's no point in the meantime asking how many spaces have opened up in front of any given number as Aptera barely answers emails (especially now when they're back at the X-Prize).

Presumably test drives for the H are even further away then test drives for the E, which were last promised (on Mar 27) to start in May. I didn't believe this even then as Aptera apparently only has the one prototype, which they are running at X-Prize.

Default What's an Ecomobile?

A two wheel cabin motorcycle made in Europe, retailing for about $75K. According to the first article I found,
Quote:
The Monotracer is the newer, redesigned and updated version, has BMW K1200 power with 130 hp, 14 gallons of fuel on board, tops out at 155 mph and at a steady 75 mph gets 47 mpg. All of the expected climate control features, heating and A/C are included. The body is a composite-monocoque made from glass, kevlar and carbon weave bonded with epoxy-resin and reinforced with aluminum crash and roll bars.
The somewhat tepid 47mpg (for something that is pretty darn streamlined with minimal frontal area) reveals my complaint about downsized gas cars. You can cut the body and weight by huge percentages, but downsizing a gas engine doesn't seem to pay off as well, so the net results are hardly better than a much larger and heavier Prius or old Honda Insight.

I'm in the double digits now, perhaps now the very low double digits. So only a few more years.

The X-Tracer Team has two electric drive versions (the bright yellow ones) that are competing, and they have the K1200 version here (white paint), but not in the competition. We passed it out on the road near the track, and it is pretty cool and surprising to see coming down the road.

Their electric versions are capable of ~108wH/mile, apparently. And they will allow a pretty direct comparison between ICE and EV power in the same chassis.

Default So long and thanks for all the fish....

It's been too long, there too many hurdles to overcome for me to keep hoping...

On March 23, 2008, I placed my reservation for an electric and was given production slot #1518.

On June 20th, 2008, I then converted my reservation to a hybrid (needed the range) and awaited a new reservation number.

On August 4th, 2008, Aptera gave me a new reservation number #809 for my hybrid order.

On January 7th, 2009, I locked in my reservation for Hybrid reservation number #809, thinking they'd ship the Electric model with a year or so.

On June 15, 2010, I requested my refund.

As to when I'll actually receive it, since the card was changed due to the TJ Maxx incident. Who knows...

I hope Aptera succeeds at the XPrize, ship the EV models, design and test the hybrids, ship them, and at that point I'll re-evaluate them. In the meantime, I think a Fiskar Karma is more likely in my driveway. They too haven't shipped, but they have funding...

Will still lurk, but without a reservation...

How does one successfully cancel a reservation? I have been sending e-mails to family@aptera.com for weeks and have not gotten a reply. Today, I sent another to cancelres@aptera.com and called the (760) 477-2300 number and was greeted by a message during business hours to leave a message. I hope to get a reply; but, am not holding my breath.

I sent my cancellation to cancelres@aptera.com and I got a reply and subsequently a check. But things have now changed. I feel that the end is in sight. If the Federal loan does not come through, it is byby Aptera.

The federal loan will be the final success or fail for Aptera but don't expect them to fold up shop anytime too soon. With the 10 million they got in April and the significantly smaller workforce they should probably hold out until April of 2011. I think they should receive the information on whether their loan is approved by the end of this year. Roughly 9 months from when it was resubmitted... Am I correct?

Of course getting the loan doesn't make the Aptera a sure thing either. They still have to get investors to match the funds and with PBW's track record that is definitely NOT a sure thing.

It's been quite a long time since the Reservation Graph had any relevance. Considering Aptera's treatment of it's reservation holders, and the dearth of technical or financial accomplishment, what incentive do they have to update the reservation list or assign new placement numbers in the "production" queue?
