Nope, no buper sowl for me - I am abstaining because of the non-response for head trauma in the NFL and because of the enforcers, like Bernard Pollard.
Aero drag is about 50% of the load on the drive train at about 30MPH, so it even matters in slower types of driving. Since an electric motor is so efficient that you are not losing nearly as much for acceleration - and you can coast using the kinetic energy "stored" in the moving car, and if you need to slow down, you have regenerative brakes. So, weight is far more critical for an ICE drivetrain, when the engine is even less efficient and gear changes also hurt the energy consumption. Coasting and regen let you use a fair bit of the energy you have invested in to the moving car.
Aero drag on the other hand is a total loss. So if you reduce the drag, you save energy, and once it is used you never get any of it back.
I see that Eric has posted while I was typing - we should continue this discussion on that thread.
