Default Aptera to phoenix as Aptera USA, plans to deliver in 2013

A new chance for the Ampera?

Quote:
Sometimes 1 + 1 ≠ 2. When the Aptera 2e was spotted at the Zap Jonway Beijing Motor Show display, assumptions were made (by us) that the composite-bodied craft was to be reborn as a product of that company. It will not. Oh, it will phoenix alright. And though the chassis will indeed be made by the Jonway Group in China, the vehicle is not directly affiliated with Zap Jonway

Hype Machine: Searching for ZAP's Fleet of No-Show Green Cars
http://www.wired.com/cars/futuretran...urrentPage=all
Marin ran a Zap dealership. He invested his life savings in Zap Motors Inc.
Martin was able to get his teaching job back, but the school soon had to lay him off. Strapped for cash, he had to pull two of his three young daughters from the private school where they had been enrolled since kindergarten. (Parents, teachers, and friends took up a collection to pay the tuition of his oldest daughter.) As of January, Martin was supporting his family by working construction during the day and delivering pizzas in the evening.
"I wanted so much to believe," he says.

Calling it Aptera USA does not help distance itself from the Zap! connection. Either way it will be interesting to see if they are going to just build the SO1 as is or if they make some improvements before bringing it to market. I've got some hope that the Jonway connection is going to do good things and the bad ways of Zap! are not going to damage the venture.

Does Zap Jonway have a majority equity share in Aptera USA? The real question is who will be paying the bills at Aptera USA?

Zap owns 51% of Zhejiang Jonway Automobile Co.

Thanks SEGsby. In a nutshell, Aptera USA would be owned by Zap Inc.?

My understanding is that Aptera USA is just contracting Jonway to do the manufacturing. I don't know anything specifically, but Jonway seems like a generic contract manufacturer. Zap probably bought majority share to get the priority place in the factories, but I'm sure they do other work that's unrelated to Zap. It doesn't seem like there is necessarily any ownership relationship between Aptera USA and Zap.
