Wow!! Good thing I rejoined this site. A wonderful link. loved every minute of the videos.
The electric motor was interesting. Brushless PM DC motor was interesting. Anything ground breaking about their motor design? Can't really tell. The motor isn't going to be cheap if it is using pounds of NdFeB magnets or SmCo magnets. Both are brittle so not sure if it is a good idea as a hub motor. |

I think they are direct drive using drive shafts; not necessarily hub motors.
Robert Llewellyn is a passionate guy, and I also like his interviews with Chelsea Sexton and Carlos Ghosn, among others; and the episode when he drives the Leaf over 75 miles one way to a farm that has converted it's old mill to a micro hydropower generator, and he charges the Leaf in about 20+ minutes and then drives home. Driving carbon free is a cool thing, and seeing it actually done is even cooler. |
