Re waiting for the battery cost to come down to "$200/kWh"; a similar article says the cost is $300-350/kWh right now. This means a 10kWh battery should cost $3500. A moderate sized motor/controller for a light car should cost well under $2500 in any decent volume. Anyone replacing a modern complex ICE will recognize that $6000 is quite reasonable for a whole new motor. This is the primary argument for the old Aptera, Edison2, and similar ultralight efforts, that can actually go farther on 10kWh than the mainstream EV's can go on 24kWh. Less is more!
